In October 2010 the Government announced that there would be a "phased transition to a new regulatory regime" for the private security industry. We are leading this transition. In the meantime the existing regulatory regime remains in place and existing laws will continue to be enforced.
We have many different stakeholders, all of whom have differing levels of interest in (and influence over) our objectives. We propose to engage with each stakeholder using methods appropriate to that specific group or individual. We have established networks and groups that enable diverse interests and individuals to contribute to SIA policy-making in a constructive manner.
An important part of our stakeholder engagement strategy is our stakeholder conferences, network meetings and ACS forums.

The main focus of our strategic engagement is to lead on regulation of the private security industry, although we may contribute to forums on other issues.
Our approach to working with our stakeholders is described in more detail in our 'Stakeholder Engagement Strategy' document (download size: 125kb).
