I understand that the on-line criminal record indicator will give an indication only of whether or not I meet the criminality criteria set by the SIA in order to get an SIA licence. (A licence will be subject to further checks on identity and the possession of relevant training qualifications).
The on-line criminal record indicator cannot give a guaranteed result without the necessary, detailed criminality investigation that is carried out at the time of application for an SIA licence.
The SIA reserves the right to amend and update offences it considers relevant. The offences that are considered relevant will be those in force at the time we make the assessment of the application for an SIA licence. I understand that offences not listed will not be taken into account in making licensing decisions. However, if my conviction was for a statutory offence named in the list, but at the time of my conviction it was an offence at common law, or was defined in an earlier or later Act, the SIA will regard it in the same way as the listed offences. I also understand that if I was convicted for an offence that is not explicitly listed but falls under the same section of a relevant identified Act, the SIA will take it into account.
I understand that any evidence of criminality from overseas disclosure will be judged against these criteria and offences, and that the SIA will compare any overseas offence against the nearest similar listed offence for the judgement of seriousness.
