Training providers that wish to be involved in the delivery of any of the SIA licence-linked qualifications should contact an SIA endorsed awarding organisation who will consider them for approval.

In October 2010 the Government announced that the Security Industry Authority would no longer be an NDPB (Non-Departmental Public Body) and there will be a phased transition to a new regulatory regime for the private security industry. While we work towards this we will not be accepting requests for endorsement to offer licence-linked qualifications. If you have any queries, please email competency@sia.gsi.gov.uk.
Close Protection: Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)
The awarding organisations offering Close Protection qualifications have developed a guidance document to help training providers assess APL applications; this document is endorsed by the SIA. They have also developed an APL Application Form which should be used to record any evidence supporting the decision that is made. All training providers assessing APL applications for the Close Protection licensing qualifications should use these documents.
