Bill Matthews joined the SIA Board on 1 April 2008 to represent the interests of Scotland. He was re-appointed on 15 January 2014 following an open competition.
Bill is a former senior executive with Motorola in Scotland, and subsequently spent a number of years in the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector. He now combines management consultancy across a variety of sectors with a number of non-executive positions.
A Chartered Engineer and Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Bill holds an MBA together with first degrees in Electronics/Electrical Engineering and Psychology. He first served as a non-executive director in Scottish Government for two three year terms, holding Audit Chair positions in a number of departments, including the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.
From March 2007 to December 2011 Bill sat on the board of the Scottish Police Services Authority, chairing both HR and Audit Committees during his tenure. He is the National Trustee for Scotland of the BBC Trust, Chair of the BBC Pension Trust, and since November 2012 has been a member of the British Transport Police Authority.
Bill held the position of Acting Chair of the SIA from January 2013 to January 2014.
