Number of revoked Door Supervisor licences in the last five years

Reference Number FOI 0181
Publication Date 10 December 2019

How many SIA (Security Industry Authority) licences have been revoked for all door supervisors (bouncers) working in the UK in the past 5 years? If possible, please include the location of where those licences were revoked. Please present the information by calendar year (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 20019) in a simple table.

I can confirm that we do hold the information you have requested.

See attached table.

The statistics have been included for all Door Supervisors regardless of the offence or no right work (reason for revocation) We have produced this from 2010 as the data was available. We have include the Local Authority area for where Door Supervisors live now (NB: this may have changed since the actual revocation took place as it’s the current address) There is a blank Local Authority included given that some of the post codes entered onto our system have been entered by the applicant incorrectly (most of these are old as the system doesn’t allow this to happen now) so they don’t match our reporting, therefore, these have not been assigned to a Local Authority.

The total revocations are shown at the bottom of the pivot table and these have reduced over the last few years. This is mainly due to Right to Work revocations have fallen significantly as we now run the monthly expired leave report 60 days in arrears rather than at 30 days following expiry. Previously we would take revocation action on right to work grounds only for the licence to have to be re-instated because subsequent to the check date with the Home Office the licence holder had successfully extended their leave to remain or after reviewing the application the Home Office had assessed the application as being “in-time” and conferring right to work.
