Reporting Lost, Stolen or Damaged Licences

You should report lost, stolen or damaged licences through your personal online account. We will then send you a replacement, which will have a different licence number. We do not charge a fee for replacing a licence; however, we may review repeated requests for replacement licences.

Note: Login credentials from our old site will not work. You will need to set up a new account, with a new username and password.

Lost or Stolen

SIA licences are issued subject to certain conditions, which you must abide by. One of those conditions is that you must tell us if your licence is lost or has been stolen.

  • If your licence has been lost you should tell us by sending a message through the 'Notify the SIA' tab in your personal online account, explaining the circumstances of the loss and requesting a replacement.
  • If your licence has been stolen you should report the theft to the police and (if possible) obtain a crime reference number from them. You should then tell us of the theft by sending a message through the 'Notify the SIA' tab in your personal online account. You will be asked for the crime reference number when you do this.

Damaged

If your licence has been damaged and you need a replacement you should request this through the 'Notify the SIA' tab in your personal online account. We will ask you to return the damaged licence to us.

Working Until Your Replacement Licence Arrives

You can still work lawfully while you are waiting to receive your replacement licence. If you do, please print out your entry on our register of licence holders and carry it with you, along with some form of photographic ID. This will enable you to prove that you are licensed if you are asked to do so by an SIA investigator or one of our enforcement partners (for example, a police officer or a local authority licensing officer).
